Elton John Pictures![]() Sir Elton John is one of the most popular singers of the twentieth century, with a career spanning more than five decades and including dozens of hit records. Raised in England, the singer started playing piano at the age of three and studied at the Royal Academy of Music before beginning his career in the music industry in the late 1960s, when he teamed up with Bernie Taupin and began one of the best-known musical partnerships in recent history. ![]() Elton John’s best known songs include “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” “Crocodile Rock,” and “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” as well as the rewrite of “Candle in the Wind” in honor of Princess Diana. Since its release, “Candle in the Wind 1997” has become the biggest-selling single in history, with more than 33 million copies sold. He was knighted in 1998 by Queen Elizabeth II in 1998. ![]() Along with Tim Rice, Elton John wrote much of the music for Disney’s The Lion King and won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” The two also wrote for the Broadway musical Aida, which won a Tony Award for Best Original Score. Sir Elton has also six Grammys and a Golden Globe over the course of his career. ![]() In April 2011, it was confirmed that Sir Elton would be returning to the Caesars Palace Colosseum for a new three-year residency. The show, called The Million Dollar Piano, features a beautiful gold instrument created by Yamaha and will highlight many of the singer's best-known songs, and Elton John tickets are selling fast. ![]() Throughout his career, Elton John has been renowned for his showmanship and great skill at performing. Including a wide array of costumes and plenty of stage decorations, his concerts are known for having the audience singing and dancing along with Sir Elton throughout the show. He performs with his band, which include a guitar player, bassist, keyboard player, and percussionists, as well as his own famous skill on the piano. ![]() Elton John’s previous show at Caesars Palace, The Red Piano, started in 2004 and was meant to run for only three years and 75 shows. However, it proved so popular that it ultimately lasted for five years and included 160 shows in Las Vegas as well as several dozen concerts in the US and Europe. The set list typically included hits such as “Rocket Man,” “Tiny Dancer,” “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting,” and “Your Song.” |
